Blue Ridge Health is currently seeking a Pediatric Registered Dietitian to join our Clinical Team in Arden, NC.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide comprehensive nutrition assessments, interventions and follow up care to pediatric patients from birth through adolescence.
  • Manage nutrition-related issues in the certified specialty as applicable with:
    • Endocrine disorders (e.g. Types 1 and 2 diabetes, obesity, growth disorders)
    • Pulmonary conditions (e.g. cystic fibrosis)
    • Feeding difficulties (e.g. ARFID, oral aversion, failure to thrive, picky eating)
    • Neurologic conditions (e.g. cerebral palsy, neuromuscular disorders)
    • Gastrointestinal concerns (e.g. constipation, reflux)
  • Develop individualized, culturally sensitive nutrition care plans in collaboration with families and clinical teams.
  • Support patients with specialized nutrition needs such as enteral nutrition.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic diets, nutritional goals and feeding strategies.
  • Actively participate in case conferences, specialty clinics and team rounds.
  • Coordinate care with primary care providers and certified specialists.
  • Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely documentation in the Athena Electronic Health Record.
  • Ensure compliance with FQHC, federal, and state guidelines for nutrition services including charting, coding and billing requirements.
  • Serve as a resource for clinical staff in their certified area on nutrition and feeding management.
  • Study and analyze current scientific nutritional studies to assist in developing standards, guides for use in Blue Ridge Community Health Services.
  • Responsible for supporting organizational mission and goal achievement, organization quality goals, and providing safe, patient-center care.
  • Knowledgeable of and comply with organization policies, procedures, standards of care and related laws and regulations including HIPAA, OSHA and infection control standards and Joint Commission Standards.
  • Attends and participates in clinic training as offered-such as motivational interviewing, care coordination, population management, and customer service.
  • Utilizes down time constructively to enhance clinic operations; assists other staff/departments when time and workload permit.
  • Assists with Outreach Programs, as requested.
  • Engage and participate in the practices’ continuous quality improvement activities including activities involving population management.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

  • Master’s degree in nutrition required or equivalent in a related field from an accredited school.
  • Certification/Licensure Specific Requirements:
    • RD: Currently a Registered Dietitian through the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR)
    • LDN: Current Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist licensed to practice in the state of North Carolina
  • 5+ years of clinical RD experience.
  • Certified Specialist required.
  • Experience working in ambulatory care setting.
  • Must be able to read and generate written medical communication and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, providers, peers, supervisor or other collaborative community agencies.
  • Active participant in the BRH Performance Improvement program at clinic sites.
  • Ability to communicate any real or potential clinic problems to appropriate risk management staff.
  • Builds a positive work environment by working cooperatively within department and with other areas through teamwork, interpersonal skills, and personal improvement/initiative.
  • Strong interest in working with an interdisciplinary healthcare team and culturally diverse patient population.
  • Bilingual a plus
