What You'll Do:

The Psychiatrist is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing and treating patients with behavioral health and substance use disorders. Responsibilities include:

  • Position is to provide ACTT psychiatric services and oversight for our team that serves Cherokee, Clay and Graham counties.
  • Analyze and evaluate patient data and tests or examination findings to diagnose nature and extent of behavioral health disorder.
  • Prescribe, direct, and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat behavioral health, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
  • Examine or conduct laboratory or diagnostic tests on patient to provide information on general physical condition and behavioral health disorder.
  • Advise and inform guardians, relatives, and significant others of patients' conditions and treatment.
  • Design individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments.
  • Collaborate with other behavioral health professionals to discuss individual patient treatment plans and progress. 
  • Maintain patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained from patients, relatives and other professionals.
  • Counsel outpatient appointments during office visits.
  • Serve on committees to promote and maintain community behavioral health services and delivery systems.
  • Act as a Collaborating Provider for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners.
  • Responsible for understanding and following the BRCHS-Meridian Performance Improvement Plan and established safety policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for understanding and participating in all aspects of the BRCHS-Meridian Corporate Compliance Program.
  • Builds a positive work environment by working cooperatively within department and with other areas through teamwork, interpersonal skills, and personal improvement/initiative.

What We're Looking For:

  • Medical degree from an accredited University.
  • Board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Five years of clinical practice experience.
  • Currently licensed to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina.
